Problematic Sexual Behaviour- Part 1: Presented by Rachel Hardcastle
Mar 09, 2026This two-part presentation supports new Behaviour Support Practitioners to build foundational knowledge and confidence in working with problematic sexual behaviours in a safe, ethical, and rights-based way. Part 1 focuses on understanding what constitutes problematic sexual behaviour, distinguishing it from developmentally expected or consensual behaviour, and exploring contributing factors such as communication, trauma, sensory needs, learning history, and opportunity. Part 2 moves into applied practice, covering assessment considerations, risk formulation, consent and capacity, safeguarding, and the development of proportionate, least-restrictive support strategies. Across both sessions, practitioners are guided on language, documentation, and professional boundaries, with practical examples to support lawful decision-making and reduce harm while maintaining dignity and quality of life.
