Ready to master the AAC pathway?

Enrol now and learn how to confidently assess, prescribe and justify AAC solutions that meet client needs and funding requirements.

This course, AAC Assessment to Prescription, is designed for speech pathologists and allied health professionals who want to confidently navigate the process of assessing, prescribing, and advocating for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems within the NDIS framework. Rather than focusing solely on device features, the course emphasizes clinical reasoning and evidence-based reporting that secures funding and supports long-term communication outcomes.

Across the modules, participants learn how to conduct comprehensive communication assessments, interpret results, and link functional limitations to diagnosed disabilities. The course explores both low-tech and high-tech AAC options, guiding clinicians through decision-making factors such as client suitability, operational competence, and environmental considerations. Practical tools—including data tracking sheets, report writing checklists, and case examples—demonstrate how to transform assessment findings into persuasive, NDIA-aligned documentation.

Real-world scenarios and mentoring insights show how to manage challenges like device failure, interim solutions, and NDIS processes for replacement or upgrades. By the end of the course, participants will have a clear framework for selecting appropriate AAC systems, writing robust reports, and advocating for client autonomy in communication. Ultimately, this course strengthens clinical confidence and equips practitioners to deliver person-centered AAC solutions that improve participation and quality of life
