This presentation introduces new Behaviour Support Practitioners to the Behaviour Support Continuum, providing a clear, practical framework for understanding how behaviour support ranges from universal, proactive strategies through to targeted and specialist interventions. It explains the purpose of each level of the continuum, how they align with NDIS principles, human rights, and least-restrictive practice, and why strong foundations in environmental and skill-building supports reduce the need for intensive or restrictive responses. The session emphasises the practitioner’s role in selecting proportionate supports based on risk, function, and context, and highlights how assessment, formulation, and ongoing review guide movement along the continuum over time. Real-world examples are used to help practitioners apply the continuum confidently in day-to-day practice.
